Live Earth The 200th post on this weblog. Just been checking out the wealth of resources at the Live Earth MSN site , which is supporting the global concerts in July. The GGiP campaign will have a presence at these concerts, so good luck to them ! Try to get hold of one of the 1000 badges they are planning to hand out. The only thing that perhaps would have got me there would be the chance to see Genesis. I first saw them in 1979 and they always put on a great show whenever I saw them, which was quite often, but their comeback tour only has 2 UK dates and despite being millionaires they're charging £65 a ticket to see 5 specks at the other end of a rugby ground (maybe I'm just getting old...) There's also a Live Earth BLOG which has some useful images and information on cities around the world. Why not download the wallpapers for the different shows and see if students can identify the country from the images used. Enjoy the concert if you're going !

Another Geo Conundrum When Michael Schumacher retired as a F1 motor racing driver in October 2006, he was presented with a piece of the World, which was worth a great deal of money. What did he get ? Where is it ? Why is it Geographical ? Answers in a few days... Also decided to award myself one of Peter Ford's Blogging Awards... Why not start a Geographical blog and give yourself an award ! An Inconvenient Truth is finally coming to a cinema near me (just 2 weeks before it comes out on DVD - hmmm...) Also vote for the best caption for the image below, taken at the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers' annual conference over at the Passion4Geography site . That's me on the left... And some music news. Not Jazz, although Phil Collins did play with Brand X and Bill Bruford made a few live appearances for them, but a band I first saw live over 25 years ago: Genesis have announced a reunion tour in 2007, except Peter Gabriel won't be joining them, or Steve Hackett. Geography and Football Just before the start of the England Vs Andorra match, John Motson said that Andorra was the country with the longest life expectancy in the world... Of course, I had to check, and NationMaster confirms that Motty is right. Andorrans live to an average of 83.49 years, compared with 78.16 in the UK, which ranks at 36th Geography and Beer Just finished 2 bottles of fine ale. They were from 2 contrasting breweries and got me thinking of perhaps keeping a track of the breweries I sample the wares of this year - not that I drink a lot you understand.... purely medicinal. The first was a rather nice Jolly Ploughman's from Tom Wood's Highwood Brewery in the Lincolnshire Wolds http://www.tom-wood.com Second one was from the Darwin Brewery in Sunderland, and was called Rolling Hitch Can anyone tell me the connection between this beer and Peter Kay the comedian ? http://www.DarwinBrewery.com Watch this space !
