A very useful and cheap addition to Geography department resources would be this book: the Collins Gem Carbon Counter , which is written by Mark Lynas . Lots of useful advice on reducing carbon footprints. Also head over to the FARMERS WEEKLY INTERACTIVE site for material on Food Miles, but also the FANTASY FARMER game.
Craggers... Thanks to a BBC NEWS article, I came across Craggers today. These are people who reduce their carbon footprint to its minimum by, amongst other things, not drawing the curtains in the morning to retain the heat in the house... Carbon Rationing Action Groups , have a site with a wiki and lots of links worth exploring. This could feed into a new unit I'm planning.... Of course, all this effort might be pointless when placed against the rate of the destruction of the rainforests which was reported in today's Independent... Still, we each need to do our bit. Don't we ?
