Geography of Whisky

Regular readers of the blog will know that I have a long standing intention to do a unit on the Geography of Whisky.
After all, there are plenty of geographers who write about other forms of industry, and even other forms of alcohol: the brewing industry, and the geography of wine spring to mind...

This has got a little closer thanks to the arrival of a kind gift from Val Vannet. A book published by the British Geological Survey, and written by Stephen and Julie Cribb.

I would think this would have to be a unit that was extensively researched before completion ;-) Imagine the fieldwork :-0

With a name like O'Donnell, Kenny would have to be biased (and would like you to spell it whiskEy) - I'm the man to help you with the research as I'm completely unbiased. My sample page for CGP was on whisky - I should try and root it out sometime...

Ah, maybe Kevin, but Kenny lives in Scotland and possibly has the same opinion on the letter 'E' as you...
Mind you, there's more than enough for all of us !
Currently sipping my way through an Ardbeg Supernova (not right this moment though, it's not even tea time...)

Last night was a very windy night down in Norfolk, and across most of the country - the synoptic chart above is for mid-day today, but yesterday's chart showed the classic pattern of a mid-latitude depression. Picture: David Rayner CfBT Conference for Geography for new KS3 Curriculum Thanks to the 70+ Heads of Geography and other colleagues in various capacities who attended the CfBT Eastern Region Conference at the Holiday Inn in Norwich yesterday. It was hard work (especially as I followed it up with 2 hours plus at a parents evening...) but enjoyable, and good to talk to people and get their ideas for how they were going to be "creatively subversive...."
