Just back from a visit to Titchwell bird reserve, and picnic on the beach, where I was lucky enough to see this elusive bird...
Anyone know what it is ?
Anyone else seen one ?

I spent a family holiday staying in a caravan on Fakenham Race Course - many years ago (20 years ago is my best guess) - we knew how to live! While we enjoyed the two weeks in Norfolk we went to the RSPB reserve but whilst we did see Marsh Harriers we never saw a Bittern!

Last night was a very windy night down in Norfolk, and across most of the country - the synoptic chart above is for mid-day today, but yesterday's chart showed the classic pattern of a mid-latitude depression. The sycamore tree in my garden lost all the leaves it had been clinging on to, and bushes were tapping against the windows. Picture: David Rayner CfBT Conference for Geography for new KS3 Curriculum Thanks to the 70+ Heads of Geography and other colleagues in various capacities who attended the CfBT Eastern Region Conference at the Holiday Inn in Norwich yesterday.
